Looking for the best villa in Canggu? Our choice!

Booking, Rates and Discounts

We originally wanted to be in the heart of Canggu but quickly realized that we couldn’t get the dates we were going for or the price we wanted. We stumbled upon Ryan Bagus Guest House on Agoda and we think it is the best villa in Canggu. Our dates were available, the price was very good, and the reviews were overwhelmingly positive. So we decided to book it and worry about the rest later, as you do.

Tip: Like many properties on AirBnb you can get a discount if you book for more than an extended period of time. As of writing this, the property offers a 10% weekly and 15% monthly discount. We stayed for a month. We hit a bit of a bump on the day we arrived, and the address sent our driver to somewhere else. After a few minutes of recalibrating, we were dropped off at the guest house and were greeted by a quaint guest house tucked away amongst the trees and nature.

How to hire a scooter in Canggu

This guest house is located on the edge of the Mengwi region on the southwest side of Bali. By scooter, it is 10 minutes to Canggu, and you can hire a scooter at the property, which made it very easy for us. Being outside of the main area made for peaceful surrounds and a true opportunity for living like a local. The going rate for a scooter at the property (at the time of writing) was 700,000 IDR. This includes a Honda “Scoopy” and helmet. It’s also convenient that at the front of the property is a fuel pump that is run by the owner’s father. Get to know him, he’s adorable and will tell you “Hati-Hati” (carefully) every day as you drive by.

Tip: you can purchase eggs from “Hati-Hati” as we call him. They are cheaper than the convenience store across the street. The Pepito grocery store is close by on the scooter as well.

Amenities

Our room was very spacious, and we had our own kitchen area and bathroom. The pool, large kitchen, and balcony were common areas. We loved the little family who was running the guest house. They were always very helpful and wonderful hosts. The shared kitchen had just about everything you would need and was kept tidy. There is one coffee press floating around that seems to disappear so you may want to bring your own. Spread across the two floors, there are three fridges but no microwaves.

Also to note, if you get one of the upstairs rooms there is an additional fridge and water dispenser. The pool is incredibly cute! It’s not meant for lap swimming but it is a great place to relax. In the later afternoon, the sun goes behind the palm trees and is rather comfortable. We had an excellent time here and would love to come back and stay longer. Book a room at Ryan Bagus Guesthouse
